All candidates for teacher certification must pass qualifying tests established by the College of Education and the Alternative Teacher
Certification Program (ATCP). Qualifying exams are intended to ensure that candidates have the necessary skills and content knowledge
to perform adequately on the state certification exams. All content area qualifying exams and the
Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) qualifying test must be taken and passed prior to
graduation (for undergraduate students) and clearance to participate in the State of Texas Educator Certification exams.
All students seeking a major or minor in Teacher Education are required to take the qualifying tests. It is also highly recommended that
ATCP students take these tests.
A $15.00 Teacher Certification test fee is required each time the College of Education Qualifying Test is taken. The candidate may pay
the test fee online with a credit card.
THE TEST FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE.
Test fees are valid for one fiscal year (September 1st through August 31st of the following year).
Only one College of Education subject test can be taken per test session.
